Work a season with Collett's in the spectacular Italian
Dolomites!
Working in one of the world's most spectacular alpine environments
might turn out to be one of the most cherished experiences of your
life, but only if you fully understand what we expect of you on a
day to day basis.
What We Do
Collett's is a small, independent holiday specialist, offering
half-board, bed & breakfast and self-catering accommodation in
three neighbouring villages, each one stunningly set in the
spectacular Dolomites of North Italy. People come here to walk at
high and medium level altitude, or go even higher on the celebrated
Via Ferratas (high level scrambling routes on wires, ladders and
bridges). Others come to paint or admire the flora… or just relax
in alpine splendour.
Skiing in the Dolomites
If you haven’t skied in the Dolomites then you are in for a treat.
The Dolomiti Superki pass covers one of the biggest ski areas in
the world. Our village base of Corvara could not be better placed
for skiers, with instant access to the world-famous Sella Ronda
circuit, which connects five separate valleys in which you can ski,
including glacier skiing on the Dolomites highest peak, the
Marmolada.
Skiing here is characterised by travelling from village to village,
valley to valley, with affordable places to drink and eat on the
piste around every corner. Whilst there are one or two hot spots to
avoid at certain times of day, the ski system is big enough to mean
you don’t end up queuing much at all. And the scenery is just out
of this world.
For more information about what Collett’s offer their guests in the
winter please read their Ski Holiday pages at
colletts.co.uk/tours/winter-skiing-holidays/ You will also find
information about Haus Valentin and the village of Badia.
Your Guests
Mainly from the UK, and all English speaking, the guests are
generally a middle-aged crowd of ‘outdoor enthusiasts’ who love the
mountains in all seasons. More than half of them will have been on
a Collett’s holiday before, winter or summer. Their expectation of
you, the team on the ground, will be that you are warm and engaging
hosts, focused on their comfort and enjoyment, with a genuine
interest in helping them get the best from their precious six-day
ski holiday with us. For many guests, regardless of the fantastic
area in which they are in, it will be you and your teammates who
make the holiday for them.
The Chalet Team
You would be employed and managed by Cristina & Rainer and part
of their team at Haus Valentin, but you would share an apartment
with the Collett’s Mountain Holidays team. We know you would find
them a very friendly and welcoming group, keen to welcome you and
show you around the ski area they know and love. Although they are
not involved in the domestic side of running Haus Valentin day to
day, along with yourself and the rest of the Haus Valentin team,
you are all part of a Hosting team looking after the Collett’s
guests during their holiday, all working towards the same goal of
making the experience as good as it can be for them.
As for enjoying your free time, you would be free from around
10am until 3:30 pm (between ski Shuttle runs) to get out to enjoy
the amazing ski area all around you. Most days one or two other
members of the Collett’s team from Haus Valentin or Garni Bracun
(our other base in the village of Corvara. 10 km up the valley,
connected by piste) would probably be looking for someone to ski
with too.
