Description

We’re looking for someone who has a proven flair for producing high quality food which is packed with flavour, beautifully presented and delivered on time.  This can occasionally be for as many as 20 people so someone who can manage this effectively without going into meltdown is a must.

You’ll have ownership of the kitchen and will be comfortable managing not only the production of food but hygiene & cleanliness, stock management, ordering and shopping.  Seasonal work is demanding with long hours but very rewarding so we’re looking for a person who can maintain excellent service, friendliness, flexibility and still have fun even when the batteries could really do with a recharge!  The chef will be working with one existing host.  The owner always helps out when needed.

In return for dedication and hard work you will get to hit the slopes 6 days a week if you want and the salary is higher than most seasonal work; plus there is one full day off a week, good accommodation, a full Portes du Soleil pass, kit hire, travel out and back, fully comprehensive insurance plus a few other perks along the way! Duties

Design and plan a menu for 6 nights a week with adaptions that can accommodate any dietary requirements

Serve a cooked breakfast to order each morning

Preparing afternoon tea

Preparing canapés most nights of the week

Preparing 3 course evening meal and, when required, an earlier children’s tea

Keeping the kitchen and store areas clean and tidy plus occasional deep cleaning when required

Weekly shop and online food ordering

Managing stock levels to avoid wastage

Assisting with chalet clean on changeover day

Requirements

It’s as much the person as the ability that we are looking for.  Someone who has a passion for cooking, not just qualifications.  We’re not fussed if you haven’t been to catering college just as long as you can demonstrate you’d be able to do the job and preferably have had some experience in the hospitality industry or a have already got a ski season under your belt.  You’ll need to be highly organised, be able to work under pressure, have a strong work ethic, be responsible & outgoing and genuinely like mixing with people from all walks of life.

You will be interacting with the guest, a lot of whom have been coming for years, so friendliness, politeness, helpfulness and willingness to join in are all necessary for the job and a slightly warped sense of humour is probably essential!.  We do need to have someone who can drive and it would work better if you are already a good boarder/skier.  If you can speak a little French, this would help but it’s not essential.

Ultimately we need someone who does give a damn and that we can trust.

A UK bank account, National Insurance number and a UK/EU passport are also needed
