Assistant chef, chalet host, handyman

We are looking for an assistant chef or handyman to work in our team of 6 in our chalets in Champagny, La Plagne for the coming winter. We have one space left to fill as one of our employees has decided to go to university instead of doing a ski season! 

ROLE SUMMARY: We are looking for an assistant chef to help with the catering in our Chalet Marmotte (sleeps 19), our flagship catered chalet in Champagny, La Plagne, Paradiski and its sister Chalet Sapiniere (sleeps 14). You will be part of a team of 6, the head chef will have overall responsibility for coordinating the cooking in the two chalets. Most of the prepping and cooking is done in the Chalet Marmotte kitchen, with the food for Chalet Sapiniere then taken and finished off in the chalet by the assistant chefs. If you are handy, that will also be welcome - you would need to be able to fix things that may get broken / break down around the chalet  - this would be a useful  skill, but not essential!

This job is a lot about teamwork, organisation and flexibility. Some of the roles often interchange.  

CHAMPAGNY: Champagny is a traditional French resort

CATERING: A catering week consists of 6 days of cooking, including: breakfast; afternoon tea and cakes; 6 four-course evening meals with wine – canapés, starter, main, dessert + cheese board and coffee. The Housekeepers will help set the tables, serve up and clear away, wash-up and pack & unpack dishwasher. Keep kitchen in a hygienic state and work surfaces clean and tidy. Lay the table for breakfast at the end of the night. 

SHOPPING: Buy food & wine supplies to an approximate budget of £90 pp per week. The main shopping is done once a week, normally every Monday in Moutiers, with one other member of the catering team.

 FOOD STORAGE & HYGENE: You are responsible for the food store management, stock & freezer monitoring and you should store food in a healthy and hygienic environment.
