Description

Do you want to spend the winters in the mountains helping to tutor some of Britains up and coming winter sports athletes?

We are currently recruiting for a Maths Tutor to join our Educational Team.

In a training environment focused on hard work and commitment, Team Evolution provides alpine training opportunities for committed young student-athletes who are looking to pursue their athletic and educational goals. This includes delivering an educational support programme to the trainees that allows them to stay on top of their UK schooling, whilst spending significant amounts of time based in a mountain training environment. The programme allows our athletes to train all year round, training in the morning, and attending school in the afternoons. The majority of our athletes compete internationally, representing GB at a variety of compeitions. From the youngest ages of 9 through to the Senior athletes who are currently at University, the academy training base provides a "home away from home" where the student-athletes and staff live for the season.

Main Objectives

To provide a high quality educational programme for student-athletes based in Austria during the 2023/24 season, from 18th November – 26th April, as well as the option of specific stand-alone camps in September, October & May, when required, with additional pay available.

To provide a safe and secure learning environment for all student-athletes.

To deliver educational support to student-athletes, in both Maths & associated subjects, for a minimum of 5 days per week. Typical school sessions are 14.30 - 18.30. Days and times may vary due to competition schedules, and additional tuition may be required at weekends/evenings to support student learning.

To liaise with the Schools Liaison, Head Tutor and other tutoring staff to plan lessons, workloads and to manage student-athletes through the online Educational Planner in GoogleDrives.

To produce school reports for each athlete at the end of each training block.

To communicate with the Head Tutor and Programme Director on any disciplinary issues.

To plan additional educational activities to help with the individual educational and personal development of each athlete, both in and out of the classroom.

To encourage student-athletes to engage with the local language and culture through extra curricular activities. This is a key objective of the tutoring team, and creates part of the job role outside of the 3 hours per day tutoring.

To provide private support and tutoring for athletes where required, with discussion and guidance from the Schools Liaison and Programme Director.

To assist with the running of the day to day educational programme and facilities, where requested, including certain responsibilities around the training base.

On occasion, to supervise athletes as part of external activities outside of regular teaching times.

To ensure athletes are well prepared and ready for school.

To be present during free time for athletes to be able to talk about educational needs or extra support required.

To help organise team activities during athletes’ days off.

To support other staff at the Evolution base – especially during emergency times. This could include but is not limited to (and is the same for all staff) – supervising student-athletes, clearing away after meal times, emptying bins.

All members of Team Evolution staff will be required to assist with driving, including airport pick-ups, during the season.
