Description

Like working with children? Spend your winter in the Austrian mountains as a House parent with the Ambition Ski Racing Team. The Ambition House-Parent position is one of great responsibility whilst being incredibly rewarding. The house-parent will be responsible for all aspects of pastoral care for the Ambition athletes. The House-Parent will be responsible for all aspects of care for the Ambition athletes.

The specific responsibilities are below; however, the role is essentially as a substitute parent for the athletes whilst they are at Ambition. We are looking for the House-Parent to prioritize well-being, discipline and personal development of our athletes above all else.

Program Specific

• Organizing and taking athletes to hospital / doctors / dentists / physio’s when injured, ill or away from skiing, communicating any illness / injury or medical advice with parents of athletes and other staff.

• Supporting the team during competitions / race trips.

• Race day planning for lunches / finish area welcoming.

• Airport runs to collect or drop off at start or end of training camps (staff rotate on these, so that they are minimal).

• Transporting / accompanying athletes to & from school where required due to age.

• Acting as CWO for the team (Child Welfare officer)

House Specific

• Daily preparation, laying out and clearing away of breakfasts.

• Ensuring athletes are well organized for each ski day (guidance on bag packing the night before).

• Rooms ‘rounds’ process each morning once the athletes have gone skiing, this needs to be completed daily = 1 hour depending on no. of athletes.

• Enforcing house ‘rules’ including bed times, wake up times and educating athletes in how to be self-sufficient at the right ages.

• Disciplining / guidance / encouragement of athletes in daily routine, organization & hygiene.

• Being present during ‘down time’ for athletes to be able to talk.

• Ensuring athletes look after Haus-Tirol rooms and Ambition property. Implement challenges, prizes or incentives for good behaviour.

• Help young athletes to unpack and organize rooms on arrival/ departures.

• Laundry – organize and implement system for this.

Remuneration:

  • £1200 / month pre tax, 6-month contract, through the Ambition Payroll.
  • Shared staff room / accommodation at Ambition base including all meals at base (meals included during active weeks of program).

Requirements

  • Childcare experience (preferable).
  • Full UK driver’s license & passport copies.
  • Must have full and valid DBS (we will arrange this through Snowsport England if required).
  • Must have full first aid certificate.
  • Will need to apply for a VISA D - To be organized at Austrian Embassy
  • "Time to listen" Snowsport Course Certificate
