Our privately owned 19-bedroom chalet which is situated in the
quiet village of Servoz, Les Houches, is a home from home,
family-friendly environment for our members (all joint-owners),
their family and guests. Each year we hire a seasonal team to work
the full winter season, all reporting to the permanent, year-round
Manager.
We are looking for a talented Chef for the upcoming winter
season. We particularly encourage EU passport holders or those
already in possession of a french CDS card to apply. We are however
willing to apply for a visa and work permit for a UK passport
holder for the right person whose experience and skills suit our
requirements.
It is essential that as a Chef, you have worked in a
professional kitchen as a Chef, preferably in stand-alone role
involving volume catering. Whilst we don't necessarily require
"posh nosh", your passion for good food, must be visible on a
plate.
Daily covers in the chalet average 30 but can be as many as 40
in one table d'hote sitting. We have a simple self-service
breakfast, afternoon tea and a set 3 course evening meal with a
vegan/vegetarian option, adapted for any allergy needs. You can
follow a menu plan created by us OR you can also use create your
own menu plan that wuld work within our budget.
Overall you should have excellent hygiene, organisational
skills, be unflappable, have some team management skills and
experience. You will have 3 chalet hosts to help with some (but not
all) cooking (e.g one host will cook eggs for breakfast whilst the
others will do room cleaning & changeovers), daily meal prep,
washing up, cleaning, service.
If you want to experience a ski season by living and
working in the beautiful Mont Blanc region for 4 months from mid
December to mid April, this opportunity may be for you. Chef works
an average of 35 hours per week. One full day off is given per week
plus another half day. (Days off will be confirmed in due course).
You should be used to working within a budget.
This is no ORDINARY ski season job or chalet. Our place really
is a home-from-home, friendly environment where long-lasting bonds
and friendships are formed. Our staff are key too there being a
great season and the way we operate so it is crucial we attract the

A French seasonal contract will be offered which will
include very good standard accommodation plus all meals/beverages
whilst working. An excellent additional benefit is the shared use
of a chalet vehicle, which can be used by all the staff to get to
and from ski areas or for social use within reason. Salary will be
negotiable and dependent on skill level and experience,
in the range of 13-18 euros gross per hour,
possibly more for an exceptional candidate.

The right candidates will have be outgoing and friendly with the relevant work experience. You must be hard-working, self-motivated, always striving to
achieve high personal standards and customer care; you should be able to demonstrate how you are highly organised and happy to work in and
be part of small but dedicated winter team. It is imperative that you are reliable, can commit fully to the role and to the entire season and be entirely flexible in your approach to work; you must be able to get along with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. Our clientele are predominantly British, therefore an excellent command of spoken and written English is essential. Some French would be useful too.
Along with the right experience, a current food hygiene certificate (min Level 2 - essential) is required or you must be willing to do and pass the on-line course (at your own cost) ; possession of a full clean driver's licence to be able to drive to purchase provisions from cash & carry store in Sallanches.
Very good accommodation for the season is provided and all food/beverages on working days. Your travel out and back is paid for (capped at £250 max single trip); there is free reasonable use of a car for getting to and from the ski slopes and for social use; free valley train travel. Holiday /pay is 2.5 paid days per month. Paid time off may be considered and given subject to cover and capacity.
