Description

Our busy restaurant is looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Chef who is passionate about culinary arts. The ideal candidate for this position will be a natural leader and team player who is reactive to the changing frequency given the pace of the winter season and trends in weather. The Chef will be responsible for assigning work in the kitchen, preparing meals for our diners, kitchen inventory management and partnering with the Sous Chef to develop dishes to suit the Alpine location, the ambiance of the restaurant, the clientele, and the opportunities provided by the kitchen equipment.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Food ordering and inventory management of the kitchen. 
  • Working with the Operations team to manage relationships with distributors and resolve issues with vendors promptly. 
  • Follow the budget established by the company.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation practices in the kitchen.
  • Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to meal prep, cooking and delivering food to diners in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain the schedule for kitchen staff.
  • Monitor food costs.
  • Keep up with industry trends and create new recipes in collaboration with the Sous Chef.
  • Strategize with the Operations Manager to shape a reactive approach to changing weather conditions and holiday periods. 

    Person specification
    We are looking for somebody who is able to think dynamically.  They must be able to adapt to a changing workrate.   We have an excellent reputation with our suppliers in terms of ensuring quality from them and maintaining these relationships will be critical to the role. We are looking for a person keen to input into the development of this exciting project and who will maintain an excellent level of service through a demanding season. 

Requirements

Qualifications  and Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Chef in a full-service restaurant
  • Experience of the seasonal Alpine winter setting 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Dedicated to food quality and control
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
