Description

The Role

This really is a winter job with a difference, and it would be fair to say it might be one of the few of its kind on offer in the industry.  Above all else, this is a very genuine hospitality role, and if you are a people person, it can be very rewarding. You need to love spending time with our guests as much as you enjoy spending time on the mountain.  You time is split evenly between hosting ski and snowshoe days with our guests and spending your day in the resort villages.  With a very high rate of returning staff, we are particularly keen to hear from those interested in coming back to work a summer season in one of our many European locations as a ‘Walk Organiser’.

Key Responsibilities

Outdoor Days – accompanying guests on our organised walks / snowshoe and ski days, managing group safety and welfare on the hill and acting as a host at all times.

Resort Days – day to day resort chores including daily ski shuttles, welcoming new arrivals from the airport, joining guests at dinner time, acting as a friendly face with great local information and knowledge.

Hospitality – each evening we rely on our walk organisers to host an informal ‘office hour’. This is a chance for our guests to use your local knowledge to plan their next day in the mountains. Whether it be information about one of our organised walks, self-guiding, or helping to book a local activity.

Requirements

First and foremost, we are looking for genuine outdoor enthusiasts. Keen hill-walkers with good outdoor navigation skills who are interested in hospitality jobs in the mountains the winter.

Hill walking and Navigation - Experience of walking in hilly or mountainous terrain, confident with map reading and general outdoor navigation skills.  Outdoor qualifications are a bonus but not essential.

Ski & Snowshoe – A competent skier confident on a red grade, no prior snowshoe experience necessary.

Driving - Full driving license with at least 1 years’ experience.  You would need to be confident about driving a nine-seat minibus on mountain roads in winter conditions. Previous experience not required, but confidence and good road sense is.

First Aid qualification - completed prior to employment

UK National Insurance Number - alongside a British or EU passport
