Description

A fantastic opportunity to settle permanently in the French Alps for someone with a good head for logistics. The successful candidate is expected to either already have extensive abilities in transport management logistics or a ski industry related management role to benefit from the higher salary package or if less qualified you must have the ability and motivation to develop quickly to take on a more equal management position to work alongside the current manager as a team to develop the business which will in turn open up opportunities for an improved salary package. This is 43hrs per week "Flexi Time" role with a significant portion of the annual hours carried out from November to April and to a lesser extent July and August whilst in the "inter seasons" accrued holiday is taken and hours are reduced to balance out the busier months. As well as general transport management duties and business development some very basic DIY office and driver accommodation maintenance may be required therefore the successful applicant must have a flexible approach.

Office Admin duties;-

  • Dealing with administration and suppliers in French and English by email and telephone.
  • Answering telephone calls and emails and processing customer enquiries during the day in the office.

  • Managing vehicle fleet and driver control systems (excel/google sheets).
  • Assisting in building efficient and profitable schedules to execute up to 70 journeys a day (on a busy Saturday) across a fleet of 17 full time vehicles and a dozen sub-contractors.
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained and cleaned to a high standard and service schedules are adhered to.
  • Integration and training of new drivers.
  • Liaison between the manager, company director and drivers.
  • Motivating drivers and maintaining discipline and mediating any issues that may arise to the best benefit of the company.
  • Handling and managing drivers cash floats (excel/google sheets) and general paperwork.
  • Recruitment and HR duties
  • Fleet management - servicing / repairs / maintenance / expendable stock management
  • Overseeing of the company’s social media accounts

Winter duties involve office administration and very occasional driving duties to cover issues that may arise. On weekends you will be required to perform a mixture of customer liaison, vehicle/driver coordinating, flight/traffic monitoring and constant scheduling adjustments. During the week duties will focus mostly on scheduling, office administration and driver/fleet management. From time to time you may be required to fulfil a full day's driving duty to cover for emergencies which could easily total in the region of 500 kms.

Summer duties will focus on administration, recruitment and business development worked around transfer driving duties which can involve two or three days driving a week during the peak holiday weeks in July and August. There may also be some light DIY building maintenance duties to bring the driver accommodation owned by the company up to the required standard ready for the next season.
