Mont Genevre, France

Montgenevre is a small French resort right on the Italian border, 75 minutes by road from Turin airport. It claims to be one of the first ski resorts in France.

It was built in 1907, fashionable in the Thirties and revived when the 2006 Olympics were held in neighbouring Via Lattea. The winter season starts in late November and closes in late April.

It has 35 lifts, which includes 2 gondolas, 12 chair lifts and 23 drag lifts. It has 59 pistes and 25 km of cross-country skiing terrain. There is 18 km of snow making equipment on the pistes. The ski slopes at Montgenevre are particularly well-suited to beginners and intermediates.

Montgenevre has all the facilities of a modern resort whilst retaining its traditional charm. The restaurants and bars in the village offer a range of both traditional mountain fare and popular dishes.
