Zermatt, Switzerland

Sitting directly under the shadow of the magnificent Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt offers an exciting world of natural wonder and world famous nightlife for its large winter season worker population.

Zermatt sits at an altitude of 1600 metres. The town name derives from "Zur Matte" which means "at the meadow" not that you see much of the lush green landscape in the winter months!

One thing that is unique about Zermatt is that it's a car-free zone. Great for preserving the beautiful natural environment and you soon get used to walking everywhere, or if you're really in a hurry you can take a horse-drawn carriage or an e-bus!

With over 100 restaurants and bars there is plenty of nightlife to experience in your downtime. Popular bars with live music include Papperla, Broken Bar, Pink and Whisky a gogo.

In the words of season worker Luke in the video below you can just "Rip Up, Shred and Powder!"
